So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu

Student Blogs No Comments

My, how quickly these past 6 months have fluttered by. This is my last entry as a blogger for the Undergraduate Admissions office. It has been quite a privilege sharing my final months as a student and my first few months as a graduate with all you readers out there.

I hope each of you new students know and believe how thrilled I am for your journey to begin at Vanguard. There is so much in store for you all: a brilliant education, new friendships waiting to blossom, new memories anticipating to be lived, and new heights waiting to be reached. The Lord’s plan for you has already begun, now’s the time to just walk in the blessing and purpose on your lives. He will guide you these next few years. Be excited.

Enjoy your final weeks of summer with your home friends and families, and enjoy getting to know your future roommates and classmates via Facebook and Twitter. A few things I forgot to bring with me when I moved into school are listed in the following: socks, hangers, notebooks for class, and my favorite movies. Don’t forget those essentials. Whether you will be far from home or near, it’s always good to give your school address to your family and close friends in hopes of awesome care packages in the mail. There is no feeling like it.

Before this entry is through, I must share thanks to a few special VU people:

To Rozi-for calling me when I was a freshman elsewhere, talking to me for 44 mins, and inviting me to VU. Our lives are forever knit as bosom friends. The places we will visit together are far and in between. Free love.

To all my dear roomies (Fay, Mandy, Kate the Great, and Bethy) who have made living on campus and off even more spectacular, memorable, tearful, fabulous, and never ever dull. You all know how deeply and uniquely you each have touched my soul.

To my admissions staff, these past 3 years have been immensely joyous. To Jason aka Cee-Lo Green, your swag is something I pray to inherit. To Kristi, your dinosaur and cat obsession are second to none, and your kind spirit will never be forgotten. To Marci, you are the wind beneath my wings. Thank you for your relational heart and our deep conversations. To Lauren, we started together. I am so thankful for the dear friendship we have and the confidant you were to me during these past years. I love you. To Amanda, thank you for seeking me out as a writer and for our coffee dates. You have the most beautiful voice, never stop singing. To Kim, from our first tearful conversation when I first came aboard, to your advice, encouragement, and kindness always. I am indebted to your generosity. To the others on staff, wish I would have known you more.

To Jenni and Trevor, each of your entries blessed me deeply. So glad we got have a photo shoot in the hot sun together!

In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt,
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

God bless you all.

I’m glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
